Disability with ITP? was created by VanessaG0214
Can I get disability benefits with ITP? Is anyone on here with ITP on Disability? Working makes me super tired. I am also a mom to two young children and I just find it hard to keep up! Work days are so hard for me. I really struggle to make it through the week. My family needs the extra income, but I feel like it really affects my health and helping me heal. I've worked since I was 14 years old. I just feel like at this time I deserve a break for my own healing process. I haven't discussed it with my doctor... But just wanted to know if ITP would even qualify for Disability Benefits....

Vanessa:

Getting disability for ITP is very difficult. Here are the criteria:

I know what you are going through. I worked full-time with 3 kids while I went through it for years. It is no picnic. I know it's very hard right now, but it does get better. Maybe you could take a leave of absence or cut your hours back in the meantime?

Actually Vanessa you sound like a lot of working mothers, with or without ITP, with children & a husband & a house. I don't think they would give you disability for the reasons you just mentioned.

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.
