Hi everyone. I'm new to this community and have had ITP since 2007. The lowest my numbers have become are 20K and they live around 58-65K. Reading other threads it seems that isn't all that severe. I get a lot of bruises, get really tired and only mild rash. My PCP doesn't really think I need to do regular checks. Is there something I should be on the look out for so I don't get surprised if my numbers suddenly plummet? Each time its been a surprise.

Believe me you will know - it could just be a "feeling"

Back in 2002 I had a "feeling" my count was down even though I had no symptoms whatsoever, none. Well my count was low and it kept dropping - refused prednisone and had 1 WinRho IV.

I think if you want to have a count done your PCP should allow it - I'm on an every 3-4 month schedule now. But I can have a count done any time I want, I just email her and ask. Talk to your PCP about it.

Some signs to look for are bleeding gums, increasing petechiae, large, dark spontaneous bruises and blood blisters in the mouth.

I'm impressed that your PCP is okay with counts of 20k. Most would pitch a fit. It's good that you've not had to treat; that is the hard part.
