Melinda - my poor sleep pattern manifested before my diagnosis of ITP. I just happened to notice that the higher my count the better I sleep.

Darky do you mean too much or too little vitamin D and what are you being this assumption on?

I mean too little Vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for a normal immune system function. Maybe a low Vitamin D concentration could let the immune system malfunction so that it kills your own platelets. Ive read some studies which implied that high dose vitamin D could threat patients with ITP:

I've seen quite a few people here over the years with a Vitamin D deficiency. It seems to be an epidemic. I've been on high dose Vitamin D for about six years. None of the people treated here have experienced higher counts due to taking D that I am aware of.

My Mom has it, my sister has it and I have it (low D). Seems like everyone I know that gets the blood work done has the same problem.

I'm on Vitamin D supplement for osteoporosis . It hasn't made any difference to my platelet count either

Ditto me. I'm allergic to sunlight, so have to rely on vitamin D supplements to avoid the rather nasty deficiency I've had on and off for many years. My platelet count and vitamin D levels are completely uncorrelated.
