My platelets almost normal was created by KineticUncertainty
A little back story encase you never seen my posts before. I was diagnosed with ITP a little more than a year ago. I think I had it a year before it was caught. Anyways, when I was diagnosed my platelets were @ 23,000. They came up after a few months to 30,000 where they stayed. I went on dexamethasone on and off for 3 months. They came up but crashed back down. where they hovered around 50,000. Thank god my hemo stopped talking about splenectomy at this point.

I have been a vegan / vegetarian for 13 years. For most of the years I was vigilant on what nutrients I was getting. I would use flax oil on my steamed veggies. Anyways, for the last 2-3 years I didnt do it. I let my diet slip due to the stresses of engineering school. Anyways, I had read that fish oil was suppose to help raise platelets. I havent eaten fish in 13+ years. So, about a month ago I was at the beach and at a restaurant I decided to eat fish. I have been eating it regularly now. I had an appointment to see my hemo every 3 months. So, last week I got my blood test, and my platelets were @123,000. During the past two years I was having heart problems too that I brushed off, in addition to a few loose teeth. All which have been corrected by eating fish. I probobly could have eating flax, but im happy eating fish again. Im scheduling another test to see where they are at soon. I am also requesting my history of my test results. I can see now I had some problems and fish fixed them. I will keep you informed.
