Hello all,

A relative of mine has had ITP for 5 years, which his platelet count keeps dropping and now its around 8. Although he doesn't have any negative symptoms, we are all worried at the risks and he is around 40 years old, had some steroid treatments which were ineffective.

Any suggestions or doctors you would recommend in the NYC/Manhattan area would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jim,

I would recommend Dr James Bussel. He is a medical advisor here on the forum. He is a pediatric hematologist but also

sees adults. My 33 year old son travels over 140 miles by car, train and taxi from Albany to see him.
