I originally posted back here: pdsa.org/forum-sp-534/5-newly-diagnosed-a-frequently-asked-questions/28650-a-newbie-with-a-history.html , describing my symptoms as a newly dx'd ITP case

A couple of weeks after that I had a seizure, my first ever ~ I am 60 years old. I was hospitalized for a couple of days, during which a sample of my cerebrospinal fluid was taken and found to contain a higher than normal amount of protein.

The day after discharge I had an apt with my oncologist to check on my responses to the prednisone & for the 2cnd week in a row the count has continued to drop. If it's not back up by next week, my oncologist wants to try rituxan for the ITP.

I have not gotten fully immersed in informational pathway enough to know if these things are related; the ITP, the seizure, protein in the CSF, & possible CNS involvement with the lymphoma I've been treated for, for the past 20 years ~ last time it appeared in my eye orbit,

Could these things be related or might they all be falling into separate categories?

Chris:

None of those things are related to ITP itself which only includes low platelets. It's possible that lymphoma is causing all of the problems including ITP and in that case, we don't know enough about it to advise or suggest in any way.

I hope you get some answers soon.

My oncologist is telling me that the seizure/protein in CSF is unrelated to non hodgkins lymphoma ~ what a relief :)

Then they may just be unrelated problems. I hope all works out well.
