Did your counts bounce back after illness?

Hi all,

Had a count done on Monday & it was 74. On Thursday I started feeling ill & by Saturday I had a full on cold, temperature, nausea etc I went to hospital on sat morning with some bleeding symptoms & my count has dropped to 41. Typically I'd be fine with that but I'm approaching my third trimester of pregnancy.

Is it normal for counts to drop when you're ill? I'm guessing it is?

The on call dr wanted to start me on 60mg prednisolone - couldn't speak to either of my haemos though & I've refused. Is taking a "watchful wait" approach ok if I'm ill do you think?

I'm pretty sure if my haemo wanted me back on steroids we'd be starting at around 25mg - this is what has been suggested in the past.

Oh & an actual cause for my bleeding symptom was found & it's completely stopped so I have zero bleeding now & no bruising.

Yes, counts can bounce back after an illness. Hopefully, yours will! If you have no symptoms, see what happens tomorrow and go from there.

My count has dropped several times with a cold/virus and has rebounded on its own as I got over the illness.

I do have a full blown cough/cold but my count has come back up to 89. Yay!! So glad I didn't take the steroids.
