Hello Sabe,

How are you? Did you find out what was causing your leg pain?

Are you still using the papaya leaf extract? Is it working? Did you use the Revolade?

Hello Sandi & Rob,
Remember i was talking about my right leg pain. I did MRI SCAN and determined that i have developed Avascular Necrosis AVN on my both hips due tk excess intake of Wysolane tablet for 1.5yrs. I was in stage 2 and had to undergo immediate surgery on my both hip. I have undergone BILATERAL DECOMPRESSION surgery on my both hips on June 17. Prior to the operation my platelets count was 49K. After surgery doctor infused me 2 units of platelets and 2 units of Fresh Frozen Plasma. Yesterday i did my blood test and count is 1.4 lakhs. Bed rest for 3 months and have to sleep straight. I'm doing pretty well now. Hoping for the time to fly soon so i can get back to normal and goto work.

Good the problem was found and you have been treated. My best to you for a speedy and complete recovery!

May I ask how much Wysolane you were taking a day for those 1.5 years? Thank you.

Sabe,

My wife Ellen had major surgery twice on each hip, non-loadbearing for six weeks each time. I cannot imagine major surgery on both hips at the same time! I am so sorry for all you are going through, and pray that both of your hips fully recover.

At the time of Ellen's surgeries, I consulted via email with Dr. Vijay C. Bose who is in Chennai. I know people who have traveled from the US to India for him to do their hip replacement surgery; he is a kind man and one of the top hip surgeons in the world. I also know of two good hip surgeons in Mumbai and one in Coimbatore, and can get you their emails should the need arise.

In the US we call Wysolone "Prednisolone". I knew that all of the glucocorticoids can cause avascular necrosis, but I haven't heard of it actually happening to anyone. I am also interested in how high was your dose.

How are your platelets doing? I guess you won't be using any more steroids. Will you be looking at other treatments?

Thank you for coming back to report on your condition. It is a useful reminder that all medications have side effects.

Be well, and please keep us updated.

--Rob

Rob:

There were some people here in the past with AVN. None lately though. One man, Trevor, had very low counts and couldn't have the surgery for years. That was before the TPO's. Poor guy!

Firstly I just want to thank you all who are part of this group. It's all because of U and Sandi i got more knowledge about what i was going through and made me to take up things so seriously about my leg pain. I actually wanted to inform you guys prior to my surgery but i had to take a quick decision. So i took off from work and went to hospital with mom. I lost my dad when i was 18 years old and being the sole breadwinner it was quite challenging. It was so tough for me to talk to mom and make her understand it.

Wysolone i was taking 40mg for 3 months and 20mg for 3 months. Likewise was taking for 1.5 years. Increase or decrease in consumption depends on the count of my platelets.

Thank you Rob

Melinda,

Wysolene i was taking 40mg for 3 months and 20mg for 3 months. It actually depends on the count of my platelets. Thank you for your prayers. I will keep you all updated. This group has been so helpful in gaining more knowledge and being mentally prepared. I share my experience so none should go through what i have been going through. Every medicine has a side affects so by gaining knowledge from this group will prevent our fellow mates to be aware of it. Take care

Sandi,Rob & Melinda,
I have enclosed the following screenshots:
1. MRI report
2. Bilateral decompression surgery procedure method.
3. Platelets report before and after surgery.
4. Medical certificate

Above documents will give you guys a brief idea of how the procedure was done.

Doctors have created artificial fracture on my hip and inserted a small index finger size rod which has small holes. These holes will help the blood flow into my femoral head which will get back to it's normal size & shape. Doctors clearly did mentioned that success rate is 50% and if it doesn't workout then i have to replace the entire hip implants. I'm so positive about this as i am 26 year old and adequate rest will help me to recover soon.

I will definitely keep you guys updated which will help each one of us to learn more and take care of our beloved ones who are going through this. Being positive is the only medicine i feel which will make a person to overcome from all odds.

Sabeeh, I noticed the doctor's note said that you will be having a splenectomy when you have recovered from your hip surgery. Have you made a final decision for this, or are you still considering other options?

Yes Sandi, relatives are bit serious now. I'm so grateful to lord that he has blessed me with a beautiful mother who is looking after me so well like i was just born. Seriously nobody can substitute mother. God bless her.

Rob,

Yes you did noticed correctly that i have to undergo spleen removal surgery. Like I mentioned earlier i have to look after my mom and my life ahead, i have no plans of undergoing surgery because having spleen inside my body I'm going through so much and after removing there will be so much complications. I do not want to take risk. Splenectomy is also 50-50% chance and depends on luck. I will try and use papaya leaf extract, kiwi fruit, California prones & carrot juice all these will help me to increase my platelets. I ll make sure i eat healthy food which helps to produce platelets than taking medicines. I have accepted the fact so I don't find it hard and I'm not worried much about.

I feel there s so much out there to enjoy this beautiful life
