Petechiae at 117? was created by maeld
Long story short, daughters platelets 117 two weeks ago, was told my primary physician to see her hematologist. Hematologist is considering her a new patient because she has been there for 3 years, (thanks to remission) and her appt is not till Sept 6th. Her primary will not schedule bloodwork till next Wednesday for a recheck. Today she had her gyne appt and that doctor noticed petechiae on her arms, but didn't order bloodwork.

Can you have petechiae at 117 or are we looking at the fact that she has prolly gone lower than 117 now? Opinions?

Yes, a person can have petechiae at higher counts. It can be caused by cutting off the circulation, like sitting cross-legged, sleeping on a hand, etc. I've had it happen. If there are not many and they fade in a day or two, chances are she is fine.
