I'm new to the forums. I was diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia in 1993 while pregnant with my now 16 yr old daughter. I saw a hemotologist back then and they did a battery of tests including a bone marrow test and alot of autoimmune tests but never could pinpoint why my platlets are so low at 50k...I was never seen after I had my daughter in 1994 but recently had a CBC done and my primary is now worried about it being so low. He referred me back to another hemotologist and I'm not looking forward to yet another battery of multiple tests to find nothing.

I'm interested in learning about maybe vitamins or something I can do to help boost my platlets up? I read about vitamin C on here but I'm not sure if in my situation that would be the route to take? Any suggestions on something to read or ideas on what I can do? Is my platlets being so low for so long something I should be totally concerned about or not? My blood clotting test was normal back in 1993 and I don't bleed excessively.

Sorry I don't know much about this and I haven't really researched it yet but I'd like some suggestions. Thanks!

Almost all of us here dont know what caused our counts to get so low. There isnt anything you can really take over the counter to boost your counts. I think your best bet right now would be to read up and all the differnt treatment choice. What are your counts right now? 50 isnt a bad count.

Two weeks ago it was down to 35. I don't think that's bad actually but my primary doctor is worried which made me worried.

Heck, I'd be elated if my count stayed around 35k! B)
Everyone is different, hope your numbers go back to your "normal" soon.
