We are seriously considering an overseas trip to visit friends in the USA & Spain, & World War I memorials in France in July/August.
My biggest concern was insurance until our travel agent checked & ITP is listed as acceptable. I was so relieved I cried! Am hovering around 25-30 with no treatment so hope I can stay stable.
So I will wave to all of you from above & give you a 'cooee' if I get into strife & need advice.

Sounds like a great trip MJ, I bet it was a relief to get the travel insurance. If you need a bag carrier just let me know.
Insurance is a funny thing, I have recently looked into income and life insurance, couldn't get income insurance but I could get the life insurance but they loaded the premium by about 70% for the RA, they were not really concerned about the ITP.

There is no practice run in life.

Actually Milly, I need a hand holder as this is my first trip OS & I am rather anxious about the whole experience. Just getting my head around the itinerary is overwhelming!

What a wonderful trip - how long will you be gone?

Did you get regular travel insurance or a special medical policy for travel? I was just wondering as I know I do worry if we travel outside the U.S. and I end up in a hospital in another country. I think I could get reimbursed by my present insurance--but haven't really looked into it.

Our trip will be about 4 1/2 weeks (1/3 of that in airports!) A lot to cram in I know, but we are unable to spend any more time away.
As I understand it, we have comprehensive travel insurance & added a little extra to cover my preexisting condition. Australia has reciprocal medicare with several countries, but not the ones we are visiting.

MJ--thanks for the info. We traveled outside the U.S. in 2007 and I didn't purchase insurance at the time--but we were traveling for only 12 days. I now really believe in getting insurance. During my last bout of low platelets, we had to cancel our trip and the travel insurance really came in handy.
