Statins and Bleeding?

Statins and Bleeding? was created by Tippy
I've had ITP for many years, but now it seems to be in a nice remission - my counts are approx 75 - 90 Yay!
I've always had so many problems trying to take statin drugs or even the 'natural' cholesterol lowering products. These all make me bleed and cause extreme petechia - not necessarily lowering the count, tho. I thought this was a normal complication w/all ITP patients, but haven't found that to be true, in doing research. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have ITP which is generally stable around 100-120 these days. I also have been battling high cholesterol for years. For awhile diet and exercise helped. I still eat low-fat and especially low saturated
animal fat diet and for the past year I have added more whitefish, a multivitamin, and fish oil. My cholesterol overall is too high but I have higher HDL and lower LDL. My doctor says my risk factor is not high but suggested Niacin if I wanted to try to lower the overall count. I am confused by the posts on this subject. Is there anything definitive out there about Niacin and ITP or statins and ITP?
