I've been cruising along around 50k for a few years now. It's been a pretty good time overall, with no drugs or major issues. However, I woke last Sunday to my 3 year old asking what happened to my eye. Ak! The inner part of my left eye was totally red - in that thin outer membrane. Over the next few days it spread to about 1/3 the eye and looks terrible. Apart from sunglasses, it's pretty hard to hide. Today it's thinning out a bit but will probably take another week to completely clear.

I get maybe 1-2 of these per year, usually for no identifiable reason. They sure look terrible, so i thought I'd vent. It's especially tough when you're trying to look professional.

My husband gets those a few times a year too, and he doesn't have ITP. They can occur without a platelet problem and are usually harmless.

I hope it goes away soon!

I have had the same thing the past few years. Usually twice a year, lasts for about a week. The entire white part is completely red!!! Looks horrible. When I get asked, why is your eye red, I respond, why is your eye white. Eye drops do not even help. Not sure what it is.

Interesting story, cool that you don't have to take drugs for ITP! My eye turned red like that but it was from a bonk on the head and black eye.

My question would be: Are you having bruising or blood anywhere else? If you are then maybe you've taken something like aspirin, Omega 3, etc. thats making your platelets not work like they should. If you aren't having any other symptoms then perhaps its not low platelets but is something eye related.
