My general practitioner is concerned about elevated bilirubin level. But my hemo says my levels are usually elevated and not a major concern. Has anyone had a similar experience.

Occassionally the Spleen can cause the Liver enzymes to elevated. Typically it's just monitored.

Thanks for the input. I've had a spleenectomy. The gp ran a hep test which was negative. He also wanted a liver scan. I consulted my hemo he didn't think it was necessary. Maybe side affect from promacta? Seems to be last line of treatment. Oh well life is good. AND REMEMBER (BE CAREFUL OUT THERE)!

I'd ask how long you've had the elevated Bilirubin count; there is a benign (as far as is now known) condition called Gilbert's which is basically a slightly elevated Bilirubin count for no apparent reason. It is typically elevated to above the normal range and is identified as Gilbert's when no cause can be identified.

Is this possible in your case or is this a recent happening?

Thanks for the info. And that sounds entirely possible. My gp brought the elevated count up when I was initially diagnosed in relapse 3 yrs ago. Sometimes I feel like a lemming when following my doc's care. Just thankful to follow all the informed people on the pdsa. Thanks
