Some advice please was created by Gillyx
Hi There

I have been diagnosed with ITP for over a year. My count is a;ways between 40 to 60. I have been receiving quarterly bloods count tests and that's about it. I have very little information on the condition and from reading discussions on the site, i know that my case is nothing in comparison to some of you.

The thing that i am struggling with is fatigue, depression and mood swings. I have a stressful job and lately im ashamed to say, i have been struggling. I do have the pupura, bleeding gums and bruising but i can deal with that.

Just looking to see if anyone else has the same symptoms or has any advice on things i can do to reduce the symptoms. Any advice would be great as i have been given none from my GP.

Thanks :(

Hi Gilly! My first thought is that maybe the stress is causing the symptoms? Handling stress is a full-time job in itself. It can wear you out after a while. I have a stressful job also and it is straining. Have you spoken to your doctor about it?

Hey Gilly,
Been in your shoes!!! Stress> depression> mood swings> Fatigue>>> ITP!!!!! Depression is very dehabilitating. DO NOT let the depression get any worse!!!! It took me awhile to admit that I needed help for depression.. I did not feel that I needed to rely on a "PILL" to help me through it. Plus, I was embarrassed to accept it. The Dr told me I would be suprised at how many people are treated for Depression. You need to talk to your GP about the depression. PLAESE!!!! Getting the depression under control will help with the Fatigue/moodswings and may help with ITP/symptoms. It did for me. Job stress is evil!!!! How long have you been at this job?? If you do not mind me asking, what is stressing you out???

Hi Sandi

The stress is a recent thing and i have been diagnosed with ITP for over a year. Usually i can cope with the stress of the job and i have enjoyed it in the past. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, so ill bring it up then, i think.

thanks for you reply

Hi Dean

Thanks for the reply.

Your thoughts and feelings on depression and having to take happy pills are very similar to mine. I'm scared that it's a slippery slope when anti depressants are involved. Maybe that's something i will need to work on.

I have been in my job for 6 years and usually i love my job. Im ashamed to say this but everything is stressing me out. I mean the smallest things. I feel so emotional all the time which is very out of character for me. the fatigue is making everything such a chore.

Thanks

Gilly

I was an emotional MESS!!! I cried for no reason and lost all interest in the things I enjoyed. I was affraid to take an antidepressant for fear of side affects. Really glad I finally accepted the fact that I was depressed and got help. That little pill pulled me out of that dark hole and I was myself again!!! The pill is one of the milder ones. Not stressing about ITP also makes a difference.
