another potential problem with Rituxan is serum sickness, it rarely happens but seldom is listed as a potential side effect or complication. It is very rare for any of these problems to happen though.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serum_sickness

I'm hopeful you will get some good follow-up regarding all you concerns. Mostly try to only treat ITP if you are having bleeding problems or counts are under 20k. A temporay boost for counts can be acheived with IVIG or Anti-d, I like these better than most other options.

Good luck

I sure hope you do feel better! I feel frustrated and confused for you! Nothing like hurrying up and waiting! Anyway, you gotta stay strong and like someone else said, it's ultimatly your decision, don't let anyone pressure you. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

I have pretty much decided to see if i can get a second opinion. I have never been thru this process before, but i have found the name of a Dr. at Shands hosp in Gainesville, that specializes in ITP and benign related blood disorders. I am hoping he will see me if i call tomorrow. I did fax a letter to my original doctor lastnight and told her i wanted to speak with her again before preceding.

Hang in there........ my first Rituxan regimen was in '08. It gave me relief for over 6 months. But it took about 3 months after the initial treatment before it became effective. In the meantime, Prednisone will be your best friend.

Hi Denise,

If you can get to Shands, that looks like a good place. The doc I'm guessing you're going to try to see sounds great (I googled benign hematology Florida); just want you to keep in mind that any doc at that clinic will be more up-to-date on the research than a doctor who doesn't teach...and that they routinely consult with each other while their students listen in as a teaching mechanism, so if you can see anyone there you're probably in good hands.
