It could be related to prednisone (are you taking that?), it could be related to other auto-immune reactions. Is it falling out in patches, or thinning all over, or breaking?

I wore head scarves for a while because I lost a big patch - the scarves are called 'buffs', they are great looking and very comfortable, you could search for them online. My hair grew back!

But have you been on any steroids? That could cause it.

It's not because of ITP, but could be the treatments.

Some people have a delayed reaction from the steroids due to hormonal changes. If it doesn't stop in a few weeks, talk to your doctor.

I have just been through the same stress, I have recently finished rituxan and whenever I washed it or brushed it, heaps of hair came out. Mine is just starting to get healthy and more stronger again, so try not to stress too much, stress is probally going to make it worse. It will become healthy and strong again, it just takes time.

Oh how wonderful it would be if we could live with 0% stress. Stress can really reek havoc on ones life.

My hair thinned out when I was on Rituxan too.. it has just not begun to thicken back up again. but as other have said it could be the medications OR another type of autoimmune issue going on with your body. Have you been diagnosed with anything else?

Many of us have ITP and Thyroid conditions. Hair loss is a symptom of thyroid issues. More likely, it caused by one of the treatments, but it may be worth having your doctor run a test the next time your in.

In my opinion a complete thryoid panel should be done yearly on adults - I'm glad my MD felt that way.

I don't see how they could suggest that when they are not even sure of the problem.

In my own experience, I have had hair loss some months after my body has undergone a shock of some kind (general anesthetic, high fever, etc.). Perhaps the drugs you took shocked your body in this way. My hair always grew back.
