Kenalog injection was created by hilofbeans
Hi there,
Does anyone know why Kenalog is not supposed to be used in individuals with ITP? I received an injection today (have had ITP for ~3 years). My doctor knows about my ITP and said there would be no side effects other than those that go along with steroids (mainly increased energy). Once I got home, though, I read on it, and most of the websites that list drug information say it should not be used in individuals with ITP. I have a call into my hematologist but has anyone had this shot before? Any side effects/concerns?
Thanks!

I've had quite a few of them, but didn't have ITP at the time. I don't know why it shouldn't be used in ITP patients.

I never had any side effects that I was aware of. After I stopped getting them, I read that the injections can cause golf ball sized dimpling of the muscle and skin at the injection site. I would watch for that and limit the injections, if possible.
