Hi,
do you anyone have asthma and low platelets? After history of allergies (mostly animals) I have now developed an asthma and should be properly diagnosed. The only problem is that I have got serious bleedings caused by some medicines I´ve used so far (cetirizini dihydrochloridum for allergy and salbutamol for asthma), I just became from hospital after immunoglobuline treatments as my platelets dropped to zero after use of salbutamol. My platelet count is permanently 4-7 so a medicine can always have serious effects if it affects the platelets. What about you? Have you succeeded to use inhaled corticosteroid asthma medicines without bleedings? What about other asthma medicines? Did someone else experience bleedigs because of salbutamol? I´m very grateful for your replies.

I have had asthma for at least 15 years and also have low platelets and i have never had any bad reactions in regards to bleeding from these mediciations. I use a preventative called seretide every day morning and night and i have ventolin which is salbutamol both from a puffer and a nebulizer when i need it and have never expericenced any bleeding from it. Medications can affect people differently though and what works and doesn't have side effects for one person may have the oppostie effect for other people. I hope u find something for your asthma that doesn't cause any issues with your counts because i know the scared and panicked feeling of not being able to breathe properly when having an asthma attack and it's not a feeling i would want anyone to have to go through.

Hi,
I've had asthma and allergies my whole life and I take Ventolin and Intal inhalers every day. I've seen no evidence in my counts that it affects my platelets negatively. Even on Singulair and Advair, I never noticed a difference in counts. If your counts are ever safe for surgery, you should see if you're a candidate for bronchial thermoplasty. I've heard of alot of people not needing the meds after surgery.
