Treatment for high blood pressure

Treatment for high blood pressure was created by Lizabeth
I recently found out that my blood pressure is high. I was first diagnosed with ITP back in 1999 when I use to enjoy low blood pressure. In fact, I mistakenly thought that having low platelets meant that i might never have to concern myself with higher blood pressure or even heart disease. I remember being at the ITP Conference in Bethesda, MD (I think in 2001) when that question was asked and quickly answered that we still are susceptible to plaque, heart disease, etc.

My counts range from 30k to 65k, I have only treated with prednisone 3 times (2 c-sections and one other surgery).

Here is my question, it seems like a lot of blood pressure treatments can cause you blood vessels to dilate and sometimes thin your blood.

I am returning to regular exercise, water drinking and lower my sodium. But, i was wondering about a natural treatment my Mother uses. It contains: holly leaf extract, Hawthorne berry, daikon and green tea extracts. I believe that the hawthorne berry and green tea are natural thinners but am wondering if anyone has tried these in moderated, limited amounts to treat something like higherblood pressure?

Thanks for your thoughts, this website was a Godsend for me 11 years ago when I was first diagnosed.

Hi Lizabeth,
Are you taking magnesium? A few people on this forum take it for different reasons. I have been told that it can help lower blood pressure. Anyway it shouldn't effect platelets and has lots of other benefits such as relaxing muscles and improving sleep.

A very simple thing you can do is do an ELISA test for food allergies. The last five people I've worked with blood pressure on had good success removing food allergens. Dairy and/or gluten were the causes for most of them. High blood pressure is caused by internal inflammation and food allergies cause horrendous inflammation. Heal the inflammation and you heal the blood pressure. It takes about 60 days to see the entire effect on blood pressure. My husband's went down 25pts. in that 60 days. The others have varied between 15pts and 50 depending on the severity of the allergy when they removed it.

On top of that (just because a good diet is good for you), I absolutely recommend homeopathy. It will not have the side effects that drugs will and will be long lasting, and it's fairly inexpensive.

best wishes,
