Interesting to read everyone's threads. I used to participate on the old ITP board. I have ITP and Lupus and have been away for awhile. After, treatments in 2,000 I was pretty much in remission- platelet count would stay in the 80's until a pregnancy in '09, ANA and anti-DNA went from high positives to normal. Counts went back up after pregnancy and had been holding in the 80's. I was just in a severe car accident and my count showed up at 21 then 15. I am currently in the debate of do I treat or wait and see what happens. I never put much into the "threat" of what if I was in a severe accident. Well, now I had a severe accident and I have a little one running around. I guess it is giving me a different perspective. I go to the hemo tomorrow and will have to decide what to do. I have some petiche and I guess blood blisters on my gums- these symptoms are new to me. My last treatment I was on prednisone, plaquenil, methotrexate and then added in four treatments of rituxan. It worked like a miracle. After years of treating with no success (and increasing Lupus symptoms)I suddenly felt like a different person (about a month after the rituxan treatments) I slowly weaned myself off of all meds and was med free for about three years. I used IVIG and WinRho with little success during my pregnancy. I never have much of a response to prednisone. It usually gives me a little lift then my counts plummet. I guess I just wanted to touch base and see if anyone had any wisdom for me. I always used to find comformt in this forum. I think the only people who can understand ITP are people who are going through it themselves! Thanks and take care!

Hello - glad you are back although I wish things were better for you. Congratulations on the baby!

The only advice I have is to try Rituxan again since it worked so well for you the last time. Also, you might want to consider going back on Plaquenil. It actually can prevent flares, so it's a good idea to stay on that one if you have Lupus and no side effects from it.
