Any effect of different factors on ITP was created by ITPCanada
Hi all,
Just want to give you all a quick update.
previously i thought that my spouses ITP is some what also related to weight i.e. when he gained weight(off course by eating healthy only) his platelets count increases but I found out its not true with his ITP.
We live in Canada Ontario so thought weather might be a factor but I guess its not Bcos he recently went to India where weather is totally different(Hot and dry) and stayed there for one month but his count didn't change much. He lost 4 pounds but no effect on Platelet. He ate asian food with less salads and fruits still no effect on count. Also he was under lots of stress(He visited India bcos his father passed away), but didn't changed platelet count.
These are all just observations. But I know everybody always wants to find out what factors can change platelet count which can be different for all of us.

Rest all is well. Bye n take care

Sorry to hear about your spouse's father.

Have you guys got enough snow up there? I'm in NB, and we just got hit from another storm. Don't think we got as much as they were calling for, though.

I've had ITP for 6 years (7 years this May))now and gave up trying to figure out how I got it. I have and I'll deal with it. Actually right now, my counts are in the 400k's since I did Rituxan last Sept/Oct.

What are his counts like?

120 is good. I wouldn't worry about treating with that number.

Hi there from England too

I have ITP about 8 times over the last 16 years and likewise, I look at what I may have done different recently but basically given up trying though did eat scampi at home in august but had it before without any obvious change.... My hemo always asks me if I done anything different once he has found out I haven't had a recent cold..... It annoys him that one because he would soooo love it to be a result of having been ill. The only thing I can identify with and will suggest it on wednesday is that everyone around me had colds but I fought it off. so perhaps am fighting the cold off that does the damaage..... But so far mine is idiopathic in that no known cause... though am told nowadays it still immune because it the antibodies that destroy the platelets - whatever triggers the antibodies...:P
