this might sound like a stupid question, and maybe it's even common sense, but I just don't understand.
say your counts are low and you get a bruise. then your counts start going up, does the bruise heal faster because your counts are going up? Does rising counts have anything to do with bruises healing?

In a way, yes. If the counts stay low, the bruise tends to hang around for a while. If counts go up, the bruise can heal easier.

What I've noticed on me, it doesn't seem to matter where my counts are. My bruises seem to linger just as long when I am over 100,000 and higher or at 5,000.
