Went in today to see my hema and my counts dropped to 28. He wants to start me on the pred but I have glucose testing to do. I wont pass the testing on the pred, Im worried because of the baby. So I left with 2 holes in my arm (new MA who couldnt find my vein) and a rx for prednisone. Merry christmas to me. :dry:

Jen I'm sorry to hear that! The glucose test was done?

I know nothing about being pregnant and having ITP - my youngest was in 6th grade when ITP hit me. But I was a Lamaze coach for my good friend - when her baby decided to come early they gave her prednisone to help the baby's lungs along.

Are your hematologist and OB in contact with each other? If you are worried about the baby go see your OB or call him/her and talk.

Aww. Try to stay positive. I started pred for the first time this week. I said the same thing, 'merry Christmas to me'.

I go for my glucose testing on Monday and another cbc. If my counts are not up then I have to start the pred. Im worried about starting it becasue I know I will not be able to taper off until after the baby is born. That is the hardest part. Not knowing.

Counts went up to 48...they havent been this high without drugs....ever. Im not really sure whats going on but it had to be the cold which made them drop in the first place. I called my hema in Mammoth and told him. The covering md threw out the rx for pred and the IVIG. Almost 26 weeks along and whatever he is doing to my platelets he can keep doing it.

I had my glucose testing and have not heard back yet. I would expect to hear if I failed. If not my next OB appt is Jan 14th.

Wow Jeniffer, 26weeks already! Did the "whatever he is doing to my platelets" mean baby is boy? Your doing great! I remember people saying on here that when they were pregnant their platelets went up without drugs.

Jen that was a relief to hear your count went up! Fantastic! Tell that sweet Aiden to keep doing what he's doing! Wouldn't it be super if being pregnant kicked your immune system and you kept a decent count after he is born [wishful thinking on my part but you just never know].

Julia she is having a boy - his name is Aiden Noah. Isn't that a good name?!

Heard from my OB yesterday. I failed the glucose testing. Now Im going to head in for a 3 hr test and hopefully I can pass that one.

Thanks its scheduled for next Friday.

My hair is lighter in the summer, my profile picture is from a wedding last year, so it could be bad lighting or that it was winter.
