Hello everyone,

Just wanted to update you all on my ITP.

Yesterday I had my blood counts and they were 451 :lol: so I am now down to 60 mg/day of prednisone and continuing to taper next week.

Hoping and praying the counts do not tank as I continue to taper!! ;)

congratulation , enjoy the good count,when did you strated the predinsone and for how many grame , is this first time yousing the predinsone?

Wow, thats an awsome platelet count, i find my platelets do drop a lot when i taper the pred, hopefully yours won't drop too much

Farida,

I started prednisone first week of January at 60 mg and my counts dropped so I went up to 100 mg for 3 weeks then tapered to 80 mg for 4 weeks then started 70 mg last Saturday. My counts went up to 451 after I tapered to 70 mg so we decided to go down to 60 starting yesterday. :laugh: I am hoping and praying they stay up even though I tapered again.

Am I tapering too fast?

Oh I'm feeling some pain on my right hand and getting headaches. Don't know if it's the taper or something else is up.

i am new here, and newly diagnosed, but your post made me feel so much better.

I was at 80 mg a day, when leaving the hosp, ( diagnosed there, after testing for high bp) my platelets were 35000, they started me on prednisone, next day up to 65,000, then up to 95,000, then sent home, took 80 mg a day for 6 days, and was up to 185,000, so down to 75 mg, for 3 days, then 70 mg for 3 days. Today after my cbc, my blood test result was 127,000. I was so upset, but didnt get to talk to the doctor. Please tell me it is a normal thing for the platelet level to drop if they drop your dosage. I was hoping it would continue to go up and my dosage would go down! This prednisone bites!!!! Now i am still on 70 mg till atleast monday when i have another blood draw1!!!!!!!

Yeah, i think it is fairly normal for them to drop. My platelets always drop when i start to taper the pred and then stay down once i have gone off it altogether.
