helllloooooo!

I know I used to be on here a lot when I was diagnosed close to three years ago! I had my spleen removed and now I am doing fine! I went to my GP for a check up and we did a routine CBC and she noted that my platelets were HIGH. So she asked me to come back in 2 weeks and have my blood rechecked. So I did on monday, and now my Platelets are at 472 and my WBC is high (she didn't tell me an exact number).

I was wondering if any of yall knew if this is normal? I mean, obviously its not normal that they are high!
Should I be freaking out at all? hahaha The word platelets just kinda freaks me out now hahaha any time anything is wrong with them it is hard to not assume the worst!

Thanks & I hope that you all are doing well!

It's above normal range, but most doctors don't get worried until it gets over a million. I think anything over 600,000 would concern me though due to the risk of clots.

I'm glad you're doing so well!

Thanks everyone! Yah, my GP seemed to be a bit concerned and uneasy, she wants me to have my blood checked again in December. I have never had high WBC but I have been high in the platelets before... So strange! I am so used to not thinking about it and then my doctor called TWICE this morning to see how I was feeling so it got me worried... hahaha ;)

If you think of anything else please feel free to let me know otherwise we will see what happens in december!

472 isn't anything to worry about, really, unless you have clotting risks. The top end of normal on most reference ranges is 450. You're only a little above that.

It's super weird though for the doctor to call twice to see how you are feeling.

Nice to see you back and hear you are doing well! I sometimes think about your famous green spleen -

There are some herbal supplements that are well known to thin blood (ie. should help prevent clotting.) St. John's Wort - also helps with moods, Dong Quai - helped me and is recommended for women with menstrual and hormonal issues. I wish there were some that are as well studied to increase platelets. I am not a naturopath, just a life long interest in natural healing. Sounds like you doctor is really looking out for you. Beat wishes and good health, Sally
