I receive weekly N Plate injections for my ITP. My hematologist believes my ITP is auto immune related specifically to my 40 plus years of fighting arthritis. My question has to do with pain relief. I am currently relying on Extra Strength Tylenol to treat my pain from arthritis and as a side effect of the N Plate injections. I use to rely on Advil but it definitely had adverse effects on my platelet count.
Does anyone have experience with other pain relievers that do not adversely affect platelet count?
I appreciate any input you can provide.

Stick with acetaminophen (Tylenol). Others, aspirin and ibuprofen, will lower platelets.

Aspirin and ibuprofen don't usually lower platelets, but they do make them less sticky so work less well if needed to stop a bleed and cause easy bruising. Ibuprofen affects platelets while you take it, and aspirin affects each platelet for the whole of its life.

When I was diagnosed in 1989 I was told to only take Tylenol - and except for after both knee replacements when I had to take 30 days of baby aspirin 2x a day I have taken nothing but Tylenol and I won't, even when I broke my shoulder I only took tylenol once off the prescription pain med [don't like the stuff so didn't take it for very long]. So can't help you, sorry Carducci

Have you tried Tylenol Arthritis? I have been told it is stronger, 650mg with two layers and outer layer for quick release and a longer lasting layer inside. Currently taking 3 to 4 extra strength per day so thinking I could try 2 to 3 of the Arthritis. Thanks

I have not. I take extra strength. Try both, see what works for you.

Both my husband and I take the Tylenol Arthritis. It depends on what I need it for whether it works or not. But on the other hand, if I don't take it, I know it!
