i have been taking 50mg of eltrombopag since oct 2018 it worked well to start with ,my platelet count increased to 67 but has slowly gone down month by month , i have raised with my doc the question about ringing in my ears ? most studies on eltrombopag dont mention tinnitus as a side effect , however i have just had 4 doses over a month of rituximab ,during which i stopped taking eltrombopag and my ringing ears 95% stopped ,after my last dose mt count was in single figures again so back on the bopag ,after 2 weeks ringing had come back , i missed a pill and after 48hrs ringing decreased [i still took pills daily ]so after another 24hrs ringing started again i have done this twice more with the same result so i am going to try taking a pill every other day to see what happens and it will be interesting to see what my count is when i have acheck next week ,has any body else had tinnitus?with bopag , i am hoping the rituximab will start to work so i can go down to 25mg or stop completely apparently rituximab can take 12 weeks to start to work or sometimes not at all heres hoping

My ears ring somewhat all the time. Got used to it. Not sure when it started.

Sometime around this past December, I developed a single tone ringing in one ear. The room has to be quiet to hear it. I think it is the same frequency as say, a wall transformer - 60 hz.

I talked with my doc about it. She said she has ringing come and go herself all the time. I did some searches but didn't find anything definitive to explain it. In my case, I guess it is because of broken sensory nerve hairs inside the cochlea, but don't know. One wouldn't think that could come and go. Perhaps there are two mechanism potentially at work to cause it.

In your case, if it is coming and going with the drug, that is a good thing. That it is not permanent.
