Hi all

So during a routing blood test they found my platlets to be 49k 5th dec, 7th jan 64k, 31st Jan 81k

I've seen a hematologist who said that my pregnancy misscarriage along with my thyroid going out of whack due to the pregnancy could have caused it and sometimes can take a while to come back up to normal.
But because its stilll hovering in that 50-100 mark she thinks its autoimmune and its freaking me out to the point of pure panic as they may refer me to rheumatologist. I have hashimotos but dont need meds as thyroid is behaving ok, i just have antibodies detected..
Looking for reassurance I guess, I feel alone and panic

Just to add, in july they were fine and they've been fine for the last 15 years at every general blood test, usually yearly.

Your hematologist may refer you to a rheumatologist - why? I have Graves Disease but that came many years after my ITP diagnosis in 1989. I see an endocrinologist and a hematologist.

Don't freak out, doesn't help a thing. And actually right now your count is going up - will be interesting to see what your next count is.

Because I tested positive to thyroid antibodies even though my levels are fine and my ANA levels were high but I have 0 other symptoms other than ridiculous anxiety over these platlets

Right now, there is nothing to freak out about, really. Your platelet count is well above treatment level which is a good thing. Anything above 30k is considered to be a safe count. All you need to do now is monitor your counts.

You'd need a hematologist for the platelets and an Endo for the thyroid. As far as the Rheumatologist, they probably wouldn't get upset over an elevated ANA. It takes much more than that to get a diagnosis for something related to rheumatology. Having no symptoms is a very good sign! ANA's can go up and down, so it's possible that something is off right now and it could all go back to normal.

Breathe, okay? Don't worry unless you have to.
