There's been a massive breakthrough which may explain (for some of you) why you may have ITP episodes. There has been a proven and definitive link to the CTLA-4 gene. See below for further reading on it.

I see that the Wikipedia article talks about the drug 'Abatacept' which has been developed to counter the effects of the CTLA4 gene on the immune system.

But it appears that the drug has only proven effective for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Anyone hear of a theory as to why it doesn't work for ITP or any other auto immune diseases?
