Foreign Body Reaction Causing ITP??? was created by D.Mann
2 months ago I had a laceration above my right eye. The ER visit was awful but I will not go into that other than to say that the cut ended up full of the glue that was used to close it up. After 10 days I removed the glue because the cut was still oozing and bleeding. I found the glue in the cut and started doing some research. According to what I found one of the precautions with the wound glues is keep it out of the wound. Getting the glue in the wound can cause a foreign body reaction to the glue.

Is there a possibility that this type of reaction could be the cause of the ITP?

The doctors at the hospital did not want to even consider it but I just keep thinking that it has to be connected somehow. This is also the reason I got the sulfa based antibiotic that they are looking into.

I believe that anything can trigger ITP. It can be a combination of events that set off an autoimmune response or just one thing. It's common to want to figure out the reason at first, but you will probably never know for sure. Knowing won't change anything.
