I have several questions about this diagnosis. for my little girl 13 years. After having made him a bone marrow aspiration, here now it make her a Petscan. Have you had all these tests before arriving at the diagnosis of ITP? thank you to be there for us

The diagnosis of ITP is made by exclusion. That means that if your daughter has low platelets, the doctors rule out all other possibilities before giving the diagnosis of ITP. If any blood count results, other than a low platelet count, are outside of the normal range, then further tests may be required. However, if a low platelet count is the only symptom, then bone marrow biopsy and PET scan are usually not required.

Some doctors do tests like that to be thorough, but they are not necessary and are seldom given. ITP is generally given as a diagnosis when the rest of the CBC is fine, there is a lack of physical symptoms not associated with ITP, and by having a normal blood smear.
