I was recently diagnosed with ITP, and last week the tendonitis in both my shoulders flared up again. What treatments are recommended, given that I cannot use such staples as Advil to reduce the inflammation? Thanks.

How are your counts? If counts are above 50k, NSAID'S are generally okay to take. If they are below 50k, you'd probably need a script for steroids or some sort of pain med.

I have chronic pain and have been using NSAIDs for years. But my platelet count is well above the 50k threshold often used as a cutoff. There are a lot of other options, at least based on my experience, though some may not be helpful for tendonitis.

Have you tried heat, ice, therapeutic massage, PT/OT, or other non-pharmaceutical approaches to pain management?
