Just diagnosed with itp. Since May I have had platelet counts of 89000, 91000, 82000 and then 93000. Platelets have slowly dropped since 2011 when I started metformin. Was also on allopurinol during that time.now off allopurinol but back on metformin. BTW normal... any insight. Really scared

Your counts seem pretty stable and are actually pretty good. Most do not treat until they are under 30k. If your counts stay where they are, all you need to do is monitor them once in a while. There is nothing to be afraid of; ITP is rarely fatal, especially at your current counts. If they drop a lot, you may need to treat but most of us have done it and got through it. Most with ITP have a completely normal life although the side effects are not fun.

Read as much as you can. It will help in the long run.
