Sushi Without A Spleen was created by Wwfbader
So I removed my spleen past november and I haven't eaten Sushi or raw fish ever since just because I feel it's worse for someone without a spleen to fight out a bad piece of fish. I was just wondering, has anyone here without a spleen continuously eaten sushi without a spleen?

It doesn't matter how much you eat it, all you need is that one bad piece. ;) I remember seeing an article about not eating sushi if a person is asplenic but haven't been able to find anything since.

I've come across a lot of information about the risks of sushi (when the fish in question is actually raw), but never anything specific to people who do not have a spleen. My mother had her spleen out many months ago and has since eaten a fair amount of sushi, including last weekend. So far nothing has gone wrong, though as Sandi said, just one parasite in one piece of fish is all it takes. I suppose you could just eat sushi while avoiding the types that involve raw fish. That leaves a lot of options.
