There are a few of us here. I have had the Anticardiolipin Antibodies which are one of the APS criteria. I have not had any clots, but have been advised to take aspirin daily.

Why do you think you need tested?

I had a miscarriage in 2001 my first daughter born at 35wks in 2002 only weighed 5lb14oz, second daughter born at barely 37wks in 2004 weighing 6lbs 130z, third daughter barley born at 37wks stopped labor at 32wks with her only weighed 6lbs 9oz. an no one could explain y I couldn't carry a baby to full term, fourth daughter major complications, took shots to prevent preterm labor, only made it to 32wks before she was born, I had never had any delivery issues delivered all 4 completely nature no pain meds nothing, after 4th daughter they couldn't get me to stop bleeding, ended up giving me a shot in my leg, seemed to fix it watched me for 24 hrs. never had another problem, and then here I am 2 yrs later and have been diagnosed with itp, but I also have developed horrible veins in the back of one of my legs just behind my knee, you can see the veins in my legs it looks gross, I also get headaches a lot that and the bruising an being tired is what sent me to the gp. to find my platelet count was at 45 I also was bleeding from my gums. so I am wondering now if all this ties together?

There can be quite a few reasons why babies don't make it to full-term. Most women with APS have miscarriages in the second trimester. It could be possible that you have the antibodies so testing might not be a bad idea. The thing is though, they don't treat or do anything unless you've had a clot. They tell some people to take aspirin but if counts are down, you can't do that.

The veins in the back of your legs probably don't have anything to do with it. That can happen to anyone.

If you plan to have more children, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get tested. They might want to use blood thinners in that case.
