In the 5 years since my diagnosis, this is my very first mouth blister ever, and it's a doozy.
On the soft palate of my mouth... half-inch in diameter, close to a quarter-inch thick.
Enlighten me on what to expect, please.
How do these things generally play out?
Is it a given that it'll pop? (Oh uck... How I hate the taste of blood.)
Would popping it on purpose make it disappear faster?

Any and all 'feeding and care' tips are welcome.

Janet, I have no personal experience, but I have read that Difflam can help. It is an NSAID for oral use. Non-prescription, comes as a rinse or a spray.

Hello Janet.

My wife was diagnosed 2 months ago and she has dealt with little ulcers in her mouth quite a bit since then. Basically, they are the symptom that lets her know her count is down around 2.

She was given a mouthwash for these while in the hospital called paradax and that seemed to help her with them. When she gets them, it is normally several and they are all larger than what you described.

I know they're awful. Sorry you have to deal with those.

Thanks, guys.

The blister went down on its own last evening, and I noticed no taste of blood, thankfully. The spot is very sore today. I could do without this, but I know it's a lot worse for many folks.
Wishing your wife well, Mc.

My 15 y/o daughter has always experienced mouth blisters (Wet Purpura) when her counts drop below 10K. She has had ITP for 3 yrs now (WOW! Where did the time go?).Sometimes she will have blood on her pillow in the morning when they drain. She does not complain of soreness in her mouth though. Usually, the blisters are a sign to us that it's time for treatment. Best wishes.

Well gee... There's no rhyme or reason. My count today is 77. I seem to have fewer signs when count is under 10 than when it's in this range. I get some nose oozes, bruises, and now the blister when I'm in the 30 and up range. So, it seems I'll never be able to say with certainty when I urgently need to see a doctor.

I've been fooled a few times too. I thought I could always tell by symptoms, but I was surprised a few times. I learned to never say 'never' or 'always' when it came to ITP.

I wish there was a definite red flag. I had a huge bruise on the back of my leg over thanksgiving that's still there, but my count was at 77. We are count twins! Lol. I think my symptom of very low counts is the fatigue and achiness. The petichae and bruising are more challenging to judge by.
