Having a cold/respiratory virus and low counts

My counts have been good ever since beginning a regimen of weekly Nplate injections in April. Over the weekend, I began to feel yucky ( sore throat, runny nose, sinus headache). At the same time I noticed petichae on my arms. Today my counts were 19. Could this be due to having the virus or do you think Nplate has stopped working? The doctor upped the Nplate dosage for me today and said calmly we will check next week. I guess I have a fear of the Nplate stopping working and having less treatment options since I did not respond to steroids or rituxan.

A virus can affect counts. Mine go lower when I'm sick.

Val:

It's also possible that you're still adjusting to N-Plate. It can take a long time to get the numbers stable. I don't think you need to be afraid that it isn't working anymore just yet. :)

Even when you're totally stable on Nplate you can still have the odd drop. I do. And I've never thought it has stopped working, that's a very rare occurrence.

I most certainly have experienced a drop in count b/c of illness! Since you feel icky, it is probably something making you feel that way! I hope they rebound and that the NPlate continues to be your go to! Stay positive!

*Here's to high platelets!*

You ladies are so awesome! I am feeling a little bit better today but still have petichae and bruising. I'm guessing it could take some time for counts to go back up.

I have to say itp is the strangest illness. Last week I was at 19 with a cold. I started to feel better over the weekend and today my counts were 365. Illnesses def lower platelet counts craziness
