Hello everyone,
I had a question about insurance. I currently have no health insurance. Working on getting it. I know treatments for ITP is expensive and I was wondering, can insurance actually deny paying for a treatment?
How do you guys pay for treatment?
This just all stresses me out...
Thank you all for reading.

I have only had one issue with insurance not wanting to cover 2 treatments at one time ( Rituxin and Nplate). However, becaus my counts were so low m doctor fought with the company and it got covered. All else has been no problem surprisingly. I talked to an insurance advocacy group at the conference and all of the insurance reform information will be finalized by October 1st. It may give you insight on how insurance will go next year.

How you obtain insurance will dictate whether or not treatments are covered. If you enroll at work during open enrollment, typically existing conditions are covered. If you buy insurance as an individual, there is often a period of time where pre-existing conditions are not covered.

There's a lot of variation, so you'll need to ask questions before purchasing any insurance (unless it's through work, then it's always a good option IMO to take advantage of what's being offered if the other option is to go without insurance).
