As some of you may recall I was diagnosed with ITP in late January 2012. Platelets were 3K with spontaneous nose bleed (and I found out yesterday...blood in my urine then too). I received really aggressive treatment with Platelets, IVIG and a Decadron 4-day pulse. My platelets rebounded within a week to 500+ and then settled down in the 200's by the week after. I saw my hematologist yesterday and platelets are still holding steady in the 200 range for the past month so I can switch from weekly CBCs to every 6-weeks as long as no symptoms appear. He also said that while we won't know for a few months, he believes that mine will likely be Acute ITP vs. Chronic ITP...and that I may never be bothered by it again.

I know that so many of you are struggling daily with counts that go up and down or treatments that don't provide the hoped for benefits, so in some respects I feel a little guilty that I am doing so well...but I just wanted to share my good news with people I know understand what its like to live with the worry of ITP...and to thank you all for your support and information since I've come to this site.

Debbie:

That's great! I don't think anyone still struggling will be jealous of your success, I think they will be boosted by the possibility that it can happen!

Keep us posted!
