:P I am happy to report that my platelets today have rebounded quite nicely from 3K on Thursday to 511K today! My doctor said that in his experience such a robust initial response to therapy is a good sign and maybe this will be a temporary issue...obviously, have to have weekly CBCs to see where they will settle out, but for now...good news! The bad news is that I woke up this morning with the flu...headache, fever, cough, extreme fatigue and body aches. Probably picked it up from the hospital the other day...Now we just have to hope it doesn't screw up my platelets. Fingers crossed!

Wow, lucky you! Hoping the platelets stay stable and the flu goes away quickly!

You might ask your hematologist if you can have tamiflu. I would be a shame to lose all those lovely platelets because your system kicked into overdrive on those viruses.

I am feeling really blessed...third blood check since discharge from hospital and platelets are holding 220-250K. But they told me today my neutrophils are low for some reason (they had been fine). Don't know what to make of it...next recheck is Wednesday week from now. Hopefully its nothing.

Don't worry about it. White cells can be off for lots of reasons. I just had 4/5 white cells either too high or too low. Hemo thinks it was due to medication and they will normalize. It's rare for me to ever have all white cells in normal range. Your doctor will tell you if it's something to worry about.

Great news on the counts!

Guess what often causes the neutrophils to go low.. the flu! So no need to worry. It happens to me too and takes time to normalise.

Yes, nothing to worry about. Those counts go up and down when fighting the flu or even a minor infection like a scrape.
