Re: Training – 6 days a week sounds like a very professional training plan! I’m glad you have this one day to let your body rest and your muscles to recover.

There are some cool triathlons in some beautiful locations here in Oz, you should look them up and come and explore the country! There some great fun Kathmandu adventure series too which I used to participate in before the ITP times (way too rough and dangerous now

What’s your triathlon FB page? It may be a good source of inspiration for me (and other athletes)

Re: ITP – my counts are hanging around 20,000 – 30,000 so I managed to get away with treatment for the time being. Getting petechiae on my legs and face and bruises as well but no nose bleeds so my hema and I are just watching it for now. Will have to do another CBC soon as the iron infusion treatment I had done a couple of weeks ago is supposed to bring the platelet levels down for some reason.

Off to NZ next week so will I’m planning to forget about ITP for 2 weeks! No bungee jumping allowed though (it’s even written in my file ha ha).

Just been thinking to myself that the count of 20,000 -30,000 is a funny one. Not low enough to treat it, not high enough to not worry about it. Same with the symptoms – not serious enough to treat, not small enough to ignore them!

Thinking the same - my counts in mid 20's - don't know whether to be anxious or not . . . Sick of thinking about it.

Jeffrey: Congratulations on the new bike! I will be looking out for the photo your new wheels on fb. Thanks for mentioning the doctor in NZ, hopefully it will all go well and will be able to forget about ITP for those 12 days. Funnily enough my GP was seriously concerned about me going to NZ and recommended skipping any remote areas all together and staying close to the cities and hospitals! Thankfully my hemo is a lot more reasonable and just asked me to avoid most of the high risk adventure activities.

Mj: walks on the beach are great, not only for the body but the soul as well!

Just a little update…had a CBC yesterday and the platelet count was at 19k a bit lower than I expected before my adventure holiday in NZ starting tomorrow!

Hope I won’t hear from my hemo today that I’m not allowed on the plane without a packet of prednisone! :huh:
