I am 39 and have recently been diagnosed with ITP. I am awaiting another blood draw to decide if platelets have come up, but in the mean-time, I am extremely short of breath, feeling like I have an elephant on my chest. I have been to the ER twice and PCP all say nothing is wrong. Can ITP cause shortness of breath, cannot seem to get any answers from anyone.

No, but Prednisone or anxiety can cause SOB. Are you treating?

So sorry you are having such a hard time with shortness of breath. I hate the Prednisone. It makes me jittery and tired at the same time. I sleep 3 hours and then wake up for 3 hours then go back to sleep for 3 hours. You could be anxious over the disease. What are you counts? You may want to try meditation and talking with a therapist. Best of luck.
