My name is Terra and I am 25 years old. I had ITP as a child from the age of 6 till the age of 8 and it was awful I was always hospitalized and spent a lot of time on treatment. and now at 25 it has come back and im not really sure what to expect.. I am just looking for some advice on monday my counts were 30000 and now on wednesday they are only 26000.

Things are much better now! If you aren't bleeding, you might not even need treatments over counts of 20,000. And there are lots more treatments. Plus the internet and this website. Make sure you get a doctor who is familiar with ITP and current treatments. If they try to hospitalize you but you aren't bleeding, then they don't know what they are doing.

Hi Terra. Erica is right, things have changed a lot. There are more treatments to choose from, and some doctors have lowered the standard as to what count is acceptable. For most, life can go on normally with minimal intervention. If you need treatment, there are many people here who can help you out before, during and after.
