Went in to Togus VA tuesday morning to have blood checked and ran into Hemo Doc in the hall.
Asked her about next visit whith her, "I'll give you call if anything is wrong, but follow up with Boston on monday with the surgeon for the splenectomy.
Didn't make it out of the hospital before she called and told mt to go to the ER NOW. She was going to admit me so Boston would have to take me now and not make me wait to see the surgeon, then wait for an appointment.
Was going to Boston.
Wasn't going going to Boston.
Was going to Boston
Wasn't going to Boston.
ER doc made the call on giving me an IVIG, because he thought they were going to send me home and he wanted to get me in the safe zone. Last Monday I went from 6 to 38 with one bag and then Tuesday went up to 95 with the second bag. So me and the ER Doc. Thought one bag would would get me between 35-45. WE WERE WRONG! Don't understand why.
Hemo Doc. came down and said she got me into Portland which is Maine Medical Center. This was good because it would be a second opinion, which mt wife wanted. Brought me down by ambulance at 10:00 pm. They check my blood and it only had gone up to 9, but it had only been an hour travel time. Next morning it was 11, then 12 at the end of the day on the 4th. Thursday....9. This morning, friday, 5. Tonight the bottom fell out.
The Hemo Doc in MMC gave me the option on thursday, Splenectomy or try Rituxan. "Up to you Doc." So she wanted to give the Rituxan a try first. This morning she wanted to give me four day's of Dexamethasone. 10 pills this afternoon. That means no more Pred., which makes me happy. Took tape of my arms from the plasic after i showered, looks like you took a baseball bat to my arms. I have never had bruises like this in my life.
Can't figure out why I didn't go up higher than 12 and then back down so fast.
I'm glad she pushed so hard to get me in the hospital. I thought I would have been thinking I was safe and doing whatever I wanted.
