ITP alert wrist band was created by phyllis2155
I have been newly diagonse with ITP and am having problems getting my count over 20,000. What have been told is that I must be careful not to have a accident due to the low count and there would be trouble with me bleeding out. What I am asking is there a bracelet that ITP'ers should be wearing just i case?

Hi Phyllis,
Many of us wear Medic Alert bracelets with relevant information on them. (Mine says 'low platelets') Here in Australia one applies for a bracelet with Drs. consent, you are registered & brief information is engraved on it. Emergency caregivers eg ambulance can see the bracelet & can contact Medic Alert for specific information, Dr. contact etc. if necessary.
Hope this helps,
mj

Phylllis:

I purchased a medical alert bracelet on line. Googled and purchased through American Medical Alert. They have samples showing what to put on the bracelets. Had my name, Bleeding Disorder - I.T.P. I always wear it when riding in vehicle in case of accident.

My doctor is very laid back and says it isn't necessary. But you should do what makes you feel comfortable.
