Newly DIagnosed and On Promacta- was created by jillenid
Anyone have experience with Promacta. I am on 60mg Prednisone and 50mg Promacta

First week on Promacta, my legs blew up so much, I couldn't walk. Now I still have some swelling but I can walk.

Went into emergency room in AUgust with a count of 1, got platelet transfusions, IVIG, IV prednisone and left after two days with a count of 157. Ten days later, count was back to 14, put back in hospital.
Now on Promacta which has brought the level back to 186 after 10 days.

Anyone have experience with this treatment?.

Welcome jillenid. I'm currently on Promacta, 50mg. I never have heard about the swollen legs from Promacta. Is that the only meds you were on at the time it happened? I don't have any side effects from the Promacta, thankfully! It took my counts up to a "normal" number for a bit then they slid back down to 15, increased the dose which brought them back up to 59 but was starting to feel kinda crapy so doc said to lower the dose again. I don't think the crappy feeling was from the Promacta but I'm good with lowering the dose! Currently at 46, good with that! I think the crappy feeling was from stress. Ugh. I never used to believe in stress, but I'm starting to feel different!

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Prednisone can cause the leg swelling - it sure happened to me.
