Hi fellow ITP'ers... I have the "typical" diagnosis story. Needed neck surgery and pre-op blood tests showed my plates were 48. Went through IVIG, 80mgs of Pred for 2 months. Last count last month was 144. This all started last Nov. Glad to have a better number, but I am trying to figure if some of the physical side effects are from ITP or pred. or both or just my mind! Leg aches and joint soreness every morning... can barely walk when I first get up. Fatigue, off and on. I usually chark it up to being a busy, full time working Mom. Headaches, usually at least one a day right behind the eyeballs. Does anyone experience the same thing? Do you think this could coincide with a low count during the month? I don't need treatment now and go back in couple of weeks for next blood check. Thanks for your advise and support!

Those are classic Prednisone side effects. When did you get off of it?

I have been off since Jan 3rd. I was really hoping to have some of this resolved by now, but I have also heard that 80mgs is a high dose and can take time to get "back to normal" if there is such a thing

Hi, just wanted to throw my little bit in. I like you started to feel the aches, fatigue and headaches after coming of pred but after four months it was no better so back to the dr after trying lots of pain meds and Dr's visits turns out it was RA. The prednisone can mask other problems so my advice is to get it checked out.

I also agree that it takes time for pred to leave your body but you have been of it for a while maybe worth checking if you are having blood tests anyway ask the Doctor to add a few things to see if there is another problem.

Good luck

There is no practice run in life.

Yeah, it's been a long time since you've been off of Prednisone...a bit too long to still have those side effects. Could be something else going on.

Thanks for your input. I feel better just knowing someone else out there understands what I am going through and its not just my overactive mind worrying about every little thing!! I am glad I found you guys!!
