Hi there! I would definately run it by your hema seeing as your counts are under 10. I work out (lifting, kickbox, spinning) about 5 times a week, but my counts are steady around 60. I believe working out would still be fine for you, but personally I wouldn't run or play soccer with counts under 10 just due to the risk of injury. Wih the right modifications, I would say fitness could remain a big part of your life--just listen to your body.
Good luck!!

I would definitely ask your hema - I would be worried about internal bleeding - I use to work out a lot too.

good luck and can you let us know what your doc says?

Thank u!

I worked out before I had itp (this past dec.) My hemo. told me that all I could do was walk. When I worked out or lifted weights my count would go way down...so, walking I am doing. It's frustrating but I know I will eventually get back into the shape I was in before. It's just a setback.

Have any of you tried Yoga - I had a surprising experience, my platelets were consistantly in the 30's even with the different infusions, after six weeks of yoga once a week. I went from 31 to 45, that's the highest I've been in a long time. I think that I'm going to stick with it and see what happens.

I've found I can really go much harder when it's freezing cold. Not sure if it's because when it's hot the heat just thins out the blood more...
