Hi everyone, would like to know if any of you experienced this. I was diagnosed July 2010 (though I suspect I had low counts 6 months prior). My lowest count was 38, which was October. I had my platlets tested last week (after having the stomach flu, stress from work and on my period) and my count was 192! OUT OF THE BLUE, no medicine ever taken! I have auto-anitbodies that indicated I had ITP, but since my count is 192 does that mean I still have them? I'm so confused. My doctor didn't say much.

Hello. There is such a thing as acute ITP, which is basically counts that rebound to normal within 6 months to a year. It's possible that you were one of the lucky ones.

As for the antibodies, those can come and go. There are different types, at times some are greater in numbers than others. You may still have some antibodies, but no one ever tests them at different intervals to monitor the levels. We all just watch the counts. Knowing the antibody levels doesn't tell much.

I hope you continue to have high counts - enjoy it!

Thank you...only time will tell. I see an R.D. and recently started seeing a therapist to talk about 'issues'. Maybe that all helps. hmmmmmm good luck to you, too!
